Local, regional and state government representatives working with several private landowners have developed a coordinated set of proposed transportation improvements for the Highway 50 Corridor that are designed to reduce congestion, improve mobility and provide more attractive transportation choices for area residents and workers.

This type of public-private transportation planning effort has never before been undertaken in the Sacrament region and includes:

  • City of Rancho Cordova
  • City of Folsom
  • County of Sacramento
  • County of El Dorado
  • Area landowners, including GenCorp, Elliott Homes, AKT Development and Carpenter Ranch
  • Coordinating agencies, including Caltrans, Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) and Sacramento Regional Transit

In developing the proposed transportation improvements, the government and private-sector representatives sought to:

  • Identify key transit and roadway projects that are needed to improve mobility in the 50 Corridor
  • Be compatible with projected development identified in the Sacramento Region Blueprint preferred scenario
  • Develop project phasing, funding and implementation strategies
  • Attract additional transportation funding to the region
